Peaceful isn’t a word I would use for senior year. I see many frantic, frazzled seniors in my line of work, and it’s no wonder! There are scholarships, college trips, deadlines, and more, just vying for attention and their spot in an already tight schedule. But it’s also pretty awe-inspiring to see the way that these incredible young people are able to gracefully juggle it all, and still have a smile on their face. I think it speaks to the hard work ethic of the upcoming graduating classes. Take a look at Kate; she is the epitome of calm, even in the midst of a very busy senior year, and she manages to treat everyone with kindness and compassion without trampling on anyone’s feelings. I admire that about her. She’s going to be part of the graduating class of Lake Brantley High School, and she’s been part of the National Honor Society there. In addition, she was passionate about her work at the Jewish Community center, and her extra-curricular time rowing and boating (in fact, she says boating is what makes her feel most alive, and she even took her first steps as a baby on a boat!). Her friends really value her quiet but loving personality and she makes a priority to spend her spare time with them swimming, going to the beach, or just hanging out.
Upon browsing for senior photographers, she realized she was looking for someone who didn’t overly edit skin tones and facial features, and she wanted a photographer who ultimately understood what she wanted for hair and makeup and locations. I loved hearing what she had to say, and seeing her feminine and elegant clothing choices…red is totally her color! Casual and beachy are the two things that most guide her wardrobe picks, and she loves wearing simple, classic pieces like jean shorts or bathing suits as part of her everyday attire. “I love shopping at places like American Eagle, Pacsun, and Oceanology,” she explained, “and I envisioned having a natural looking and fun photo session near the water.” Of course, the water was a must for a girl who feels most at home there. Besides her love of all things aquatic, Kate is also very talented when it comes to math, and can’t wait to continue her academic pursuits at Florida State University when she graduates. After college, she hopes to continue traveling the world (preferably via boat), and fitting in some snow skiing.
Hair and makeup was one of the things that she mentioned as being important to her, and I adore the way hers came out. She is a natural beauty, and her styling highlights everything wonderful about her! I never believe in asking a stylist to cake on tons of makeup, because I always want my seniors to recognize themselves, and see themselves in their very best light.
