2017 Year in Review

This year has gone by so quickly, and it’s left me here near it’s end thinking back over how great it’s been. The family sessions, the senior photos, and everything in between has made 2017 a wonderful year for photography, and it’s been my honor and privilege to capture the spirit of each of my clients. This job is my favorite, besides being a mother and a wife, and I can’t imagine a better occupation for me. I have this strong drive to be creative, and because of that passion, photography was a match made in heaven for me. It’s so fulfilling to start a project, work with someone’s vision, and capture it for them to look back on forever. This sort of time travel ability was one of my great draws to photography in general, being able to hold in your hand a time once lived, and to feel those same things that you did in that moment. I remember the first photos taken of my children soon after they were born. It’s hard to recall every detail in my head since it’s been so long, but I still have all the many pictures of them from that time, and it allows me to study every cute detail and relive those moments again. It’s a great blessing to have that ability, and it’s become my mission ever since to do the same for others.

So here I am, years later, at the end of another wonderful year, thinking back on all the great many people I’ve met. I loved meeting each one of my clients, and working with them was such a blessing to me. Being able to hear about someone’s life, what’s important to them, and what they love to do is fun for me, and my job lets me do that with everyone I meet! The families I’ve met have each been so warm and friendly, and lead such interesting lives, and every senior that I’ve met has shown so much passion and potential for life. My challenge always is capturing that warmth and zeal, and it’s only gotten easier over time. I’ve been blessed with a disposition that puts people at ease, and I’ve learned how to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that allows anyone in front of my camera to relax and be themselves. For the seniors, their session photos are some of the only ones they’ll have to look back on in this time of their lives, and they trust me completely to capture it well. Families trust me to write their family history, if you will, into their family pictures. It takes work to gain trust, and it’s work I love to do.

All in all, it’s been another good year. Each person I’ve had the joy of meeting has touched my heart, and I in turn can use my own time machine to remember the wonderful time we had in each session. It’s those families and young people who’ve made this year such a pleasant one, and I’m so thankful for their interest in me and my work. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them, and it’s been my honor to be held up in such high esteem. I hope to learn and grow in my craft as the years go on, and I have every intention to take pictures for as long as I live. Here’s to the new year! I hope it’s a blessed one for each and every one of you.
