You won’t come across many people who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. Camdyn is the lovely exception, and it was so wonderful meeting her and capturing this passion in person! She’s graduating from Hagerty High School, and already has her sights set on continuing her education at the University of Alabama. In the meantime, she’s very active as a cheerleader, and in a variety of clubs at school, like the Student Government, and Leadership Club, to name a couple. In her limited spare time, you can find her spending time with her friends and family. I love the energy and ambition that Camdyn has, and it was a joy to spend time with her in her senior session!
I love Camdyn’s style. Her favorite fashion trend right now is ‘retro comfy but cute’, and it looks so good on her! She’s a big fan of sundresses, so naturally her senior session wardrobe included a couple, which added a bit of the whimsy of summer into the shoot. We spent the whole session outdoors, stopping by some of the usual spots that had the color palette we were looking for. The deep green of the hedges complimented Camdyn’s gorgeous skin tone, and the yellow wildflower fields were the perfect accent to the whites of her wardrobe, and her flashy smile.
Camdyn was so comfortable in front of the lens in her session. I make it a mission of mine to make sure every person I have the pleasure of capturing with my camera is totally comfortable and feeling like themselves. Doing this ensures that it’s really you that I’m capturing, and comfortability makes all the difference! I try to get to know my clients before and during the session to help with this. I asked Camdyn what she’s passionate about: “Making a difference in the lives of my friends, and being there for other people.” It’s this kind of heart that led Camdyn to working in therapy for children with autism, and it’s a heart that I love to see.
One of my favorite things about Camdyn’s session was her smile. It was just glowing during the whole session, showing off her fun and joyful spirit. High school can be a hard place to keep that spirit up. I asked Camdyn what the biggest lesson she’s learned about herself in high school was: “Not to let what other people think of you bother you, and not to be afraid to have fun and participate.” What an incredible lesson to learn at a young age! It’s no wonder that you can always catch Camdyn with a smile.
We finished off the session with the sunset, some fairy lights, and sparklers. It’s one of my favorite scenes, so I jumped at the chance to include it in Camdyn’s session. With the last light of the day over her shoulder, we lit up the night with a string of fairy lights, to get some great bokeh accents, and sparklers, which lit up her face with joy. She’s no stranger to joy, and she understands what it takes to be joyful: “Don’t let anyone steal your joy, because you have to be yourself. Enjoy what you can, don’t let anyone’s opinions about you get to you.”
Congratulations, Camdyn! I know your heart and your joy will lead you to the best life has to offer.
