Accessories to Bring to your Senior Session

Infusing your personality and uniqueness to your senior photoshoot sounds easy, but is it? For many seniors, it feels awkward or strange to think about the items or ways they can show their personality off. It can also be intimidating. After all, you don’t want it to come across as cheesy or tacky, and you want to maintain the quality of your senior photos (and not cringe when these photos pop up in decades to come!). Here are seven tips to making your passions shine in your session:

1. A hat: Hats don’t need to be tacky fedoras of yesteryears (hello, early 2000’s!). Opt for something more modern, like a felt hat or wide brim option. For guys, a clean or classy baseball cap or sports cap is a good option if I can still see your eyes.

2. Your pet: Yes, we allow pets to accompany you on your session. Please be sure to let me know what type of pet so we can figure out the best way to accommodate them.

3. Cheer uniform: Your cheer or gymnastics uniform is a great way to bring in personality! Please be sure to press it and make sure it’s clean for the bet look If you’re adding in white cheer shoes, be sure to get them as clean as possible because smudges do show up on camera so minimizing them as best you can is helpful.

4. Your car: Got an awesome ride that you love? Your car says a lot about you, so we can include it if you want! Many guy seniors enjoy bringing their truck or Jeep, but guys and girls alike can include it as a fun prop.

5. Dance/Pointe shoes: If you’re a dancer with slippers or pointe shoes, we know you’ve worked hard for them and we can make some gorgeous shots with them.

6. College gear: If you’re still undecided, you can still bring your college gear with you. Bring your top three choices if you have them (tee shirts, hats, or etc) and we can photograph them all and you can select later down the road and use that set of images.

7. Cap and gown: You won’t receive your cap and gown typically until May, so you can borrow one from another former grad if you need, or I have some loaner caps and gowns to choose from. We stock a number of colors so you can choose the appropriate one for your school.
