If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward. -Martin Luther King Jr.
When I asked Angel what her favorite quote is, she responded with that amazing one from MLK Jr., and it’s one that has really stuck with me! In times like these, when future plans seem a bit murky, and we are all just trying to keep moving forward, it was a beautiful reminder. Speaking of beautiful, this girl really embodies the word…inside and out. Angel is a Lake Mary student who recently graduated. She is so active in her community, and is someone who perpetually puts others first, and always lends a helping hand. She has gained such perspective from people like her dad, whom she calls her hero. “I look up to my Dad because he has such a positive outlook on life despite everything he has been through”, she explained to me, “He always pushes himself to achieve his goals and to be able to support his family.” Angel has managed to participate in many clubs and activities in her time at LMHS, including the Spanish honor society, and volunteering at her church and a local pet rescue. She has been blessed with a very science-minded brain, and hopes to use it in the future by attending nursing school. In her spare time, Angel loves watching Netflix, and looking into ways to stay healthy and fit (like working out and making healthy new recipes).
This sweet girl says her friends would describe her as outgoing and passionate, and that she hopes to channel those extrovert skills into being a fantastic healthcare worker. She will be attending Florida State University in the fall, which she chose because of the beautiful camps and the stellar nursing program. “I am majoring in nursing because I truly love helping others”, she adds, “I hope to continue on after college and also become a nurse anesthetist”. She credits her high school journey with making her more mature, and says her time there has taught her to never give up, no matter the obstacles. “My biggest accomplishment has been becoming accepted into FSU”, she adds proudly.
I am thrilled to watch her take on such a wonderful future! Congratulations, Angel!
