What’s so special about the Class of 2020? I find new and unique things to appreciate about every graduating class that I work with, but this girl is a special highlight of this upcoming group. Ashley is just so kind and fun, and so well-rounded; her list of activities is impressive and amazing! She is going to be graduating from Lake Brantley High School, where she has brought her smile and energy to things like the National Honor Society, student government, varsity golf and weightlifting, and served as senior class treasurer. She cites math as her most captivating subject in school, and her favorite memory from high school has been serving on the student leadership. Horses are one of her great passions, and she’s spent a lot of time volunteering with Freedom Ride; an organization that helps individuals with disabilities through therapeutic horseback riding. She’s longtime been a talented rider, and is part of the Central Florida Equestrian Team as well.
“When I thought about my senior session, I hoped for a peaceful, lighthearted afternoon enjoying the fall weather and taking pictures”, explained Ashley, “High school has been filled with memories for me, and I hope my friends know me as someone who is positive, and a go-getter. I am someone who is always up for a challenge”. This summer, she also attended the University of Florida’s Youth Institute, where she was recognized as a Borlaug Scholar for a paper she wrote on food insecurity in Costa Rica. Impressively, she was also selected to present this paper at a symposium in October. Ashley hopes to attend the University of Florida after graduation, as well as one day own a horse farm and travel to Ireland.
