You can always spot the artistic students…they are wise, bright, and creative. They also have an unique perspective on life that always brings me extra inspiration, and exudes itself in every image. Maryelis was just that type of creative, inspiring soul, and capturing her with my lens was a true privilege! She is a graduating senior from Lake Mary Preparatory School, and wow, is she a total powerhouse! Not only gifted in many creative facets (art, writing, editing), she is an amazing athlete, and donates tons of time to her favorite volunteer efforts. Some of these include raising awareness for Breast Cancer, working with the key club, and being a student ambassador for the school. This sweet and giving young lady also has enjoyed working at a local supermarket as her part-time job, and says, “In my spare time, I enjoy being surrounded by the people I love most. I love going out to try new foods, and am always up for trying something new!” Her adventurous spirit has served her well as she’s navigated her years at LMP, and has brought her some treasured memories such as being elected as Homecoming Queen, and traveling to Europe with her aunt.
“The most important thing that I’ve learned in my years in school has been the ability to withstand negativity”, she explained, “I have truly matured and changed through the years, and learned that I am strong. I have also found my biggest passion: art! I love painting and listening to music by myself, and it makes me feel like I can do anything”. Later, after graduation, she hopes to attend USF or FAU, and is making even bigger plans to travel to Africa to build water wells for the needy.
I truly enjoyed planning a session that was as special as Maryelis was, and that always starts with the style. When we started planning what she might like to wear, she explained that some of her favorite pieces are cute rompers, great jeans, and pieces that reflect her love of the 90’s. I think we captured that easygoing vibe with this shoot, and I especially loved her high waisted, light wash jeans paired with that happy floral top! After doing her research, I am so glad that this beautiful girl chose me for her senior photography, and I am so pleased with how the lighting, editing, and location came together to celebrate her accomplishments!
