Maura | Socrates High School Senior

Fostering a love of learning is one thing that many seniors glean from their years in high school. I’ve found that this really is dependent on the senior, on their teachers, and the people around them, and that it’s crucially important to their lives as adults! As an adult now, I still love learning, and push myself to improve creatively and professionally as often as I can. I love that so many students are gaining this skill early on in life. Maura loves learning, and she’s really stretched herself academically at Socrates Preparatory School. She graduated just recently in the Class of 2019, and she was my first client from her school, which is always an exciting thing. She’s very bright and enjoys subjects like chemistry, biology, and psychology, and has explored other passions like programming and plant research during her school years. Besides these things, she enjoys doing yoga, drawing, playing the piano, and gaining work experience as a bookkeeper. Being in the outdoors is another thing she has made time for, and hiking is her favorite way to spend that time.

Maura says her friends would say she is relaxed and social; most of her best memories from high school include her circle of friends and their activities and parties. She has been honing a love of travel, and has taken road trips through Ireland, and visited Turkey and Kyrgyzstan so far. Now that she’s graduated, she will be attending the University of Central Asia for her freshman year in college, and then transferring to the University of Florida afterwards. Then, she hopes to get into Cornell for her continuing educational pursuits. Something interesting that she shared with me is that she will also be traveling to Kyrgyzstan for a year to introduce her automated greenhouse system to the country, and I know that will be an amazing opportunity! She was a bit apprehensive about spending so much time in front of the camera, but as you can see, she’s beautiful and so poised!

Maura, I cannot wait to see the things you do in your travels and future. I know you will bring positive change to the world around you, and I wish you all the best.
