Whenever I get to shoot with amazing seniors, it’s a treat, and when we get to include their gorgeous and beloved animals, it’s even better. Sydney has some of the most incredible horses, and shooting them together was a dream come true. They are so elegant, majestic, and amazing, and the bond between this senior and her animals is just unbreakable. Horseback riding is one of her biggest passions in life, and this session couldn’t have come fast enough for me! Sydney is from Trinity Preparatory School, and is also involved with competitive equestrian riding. Spending time with her horses is of course at the top of her list of hobbies, but she also enjoys running, spending time with friends, and hiking. She also enjoys going to the beach with any spare time she has, and her favorite subject in school is math.
High school was a formative experience for Sydney and she explained, “In high school, I really learned to just act as I am, and not pretend to be something I’m not”. Such a valuable lesson; and one that so many teens would benefit from…she is a wise soul. She’s been knee-deep in college applications for awhile, and she has been using the phrase, “I choose failure over regret”, which I love (I told you she was wise!). I did her sister’s senior photos awhile back, and I am so glad their family chose me a second time. Sydney requested a very laid back and natural session with simple and candid poses, and of course, including her horses. “When I envision my shoot, I think of beautiful photos with my horses, and having portraits to commemorate my senior year”, she explained, “I wanted nice, natural poses, and maybe some of the sunset”. One thing she didn’t love was the “fake laugh” photos…I try hard to capture my clients in their candid happiness, not just posed or stiff fake moments. It should truly be an authentic memory for the senior and their parents!
Sydney is planning to attend the University of Southern California, and I know she will bring her amazing spirit to the West Coast!
