Some people are just a drop of sunshine. Nicole is one of those people, and it was a joy to witness! She’s graduating from Hagerty High School, and she’s excited for all that’s ahead of her. We had such a good time in her senior session, and the light of the day was like a warm symphony playing with her beautiful looks and gorgeous outfits. Nicole would know, as she’s very well acquainted with beautiful music – one of her favorite parts of life is playing in school band. A big part of her day-to-day life is playing and listening to music, and she wouldn’t have it any other way! Aside from band, she loves to read, listen to and play music, and do makeup – both her own, and special effects makeup. She has a fantastic understanding of color, and made sure to wear her favorite outfits to bring out her deep blue eyes in each of her senior portraits.
For the session itself, we wanted a good mix of natural and man-made patterns, so we visited a beautiful garden area that had the architecture we were looking for. The light pops of purple and pink against the green foliage made the perfect backdrop for Nicole, and the cold and aging stone played well as a contrast to her youthful looks. For the areas without any flowers, we brought our own in Nicole’s wonderful blue floral dress, and it looked wonderful as she became the elegant center of the courtyard. Over the years in high school, Nicole has been blossoming into a stronger and more confident person, and she says she has making mistakes to thank for it. “I have learned that it is okay to make mistakes.”, she says, “I have made my fair share of mistakes in friendships and with school work, but I have learned that you only learn by making those mistakes and going through things the hard way. Because of this, I have grown as a person, and am able to pick better friends and make better decisions as well.” Sounds like Nicole is ready for the adult world; the world has been waiting for someone like her to change it!
Nicole’s confidence and comfortability in front of the camera isn’t the only place where she feels that way – it’s on the stage, playing with the rest of her bandmates, is the place where she feels truly alive. This passion consistently gives her goosebumps, especially when reminded of the time they played ‘Counting Star’ by One Republic, and she loves the memories that flood into her mind when it happens. I’m sure there were many people proud of her that day, but no one beats the pride her parents have in Nicole. They’re the people that she looks up to the most, and she says, “My parents are my biggest role models in life. They have been married for 23 years, and every day I see how they unconditionally love and respect each other, even when they are disagreeing, and I respect that so much. I hope to have someone I can share that love with someday!”
It was a wonderful day spent with Nicole, and we made sure to end it by spending time at the dock, catching the last drops of sunlight from the horizon. The brightest drop of sunshine, of course, has been and always will be Nicole, and now we’ve bottled it up in her senior photos for everyone to enjoy.
