Jeans. The quintessential piece that everyone wants in their closet, but they are also one of the hardest things to find. Since many seniors include a pair of jeans in their senior shoot (even if you’d rather don dresses or skirts for your session, you may be able to find the perfect pair for everyday wear). Here is our guide to the best jeans that are available this season, with designer brands and more affordable options to fit just about any budget! Even if you’re unfamiliar with a brand, you may check it out to see if you find a new favorite:
High Waist: This trend is one of the best ones this season and has been popular for a few years. We don’t see it disappearing anytime soon, but not all high-waist jeans are created equal. Our favorite pair is the High-Riser from Madewell. They come with a bit of a price tag at $135, but they are worth every penny! They come in a variety of inclusive sizes, including awesome petite lengths and tall and curvy styles in just about every wash. There’s a reason that fashion bloggers, teens, and moms alike all love these jeans; they have the brand’s ‘magic pockets’, which are slimming and perfect for smoothing out a tucked-in blouse. Our favorite wash is the Danny Wash, which is soft and worn-in, but still looks great paired with heels.
The Nineties-inspired Jean: These are probably not the best choice for a senior shoot, since most are distressed and can look a bit sloppy if you’re not careful, but they made our list because they are so fun to wear. Surprisingly, Abercrombie and Fitch has made a comeback this year, in a big way. Some of the biggest fashion bloggers and Instagram influencers are wearing the brand again, thanks to some really great pieces that are very affordable. They have a great pair of light wash jeans, that are under $70. We found them to be true to size, and extremely well-made. Add a cool band tee for a vintage-chic look!
Dark Wash skinny: a regular skinny jean (mid-rise) is extremely flattering, and can be worn with a pretty blouse for a look that will be timeless for senior photos. Look for a pair with proportional pockets for the best look; pockets shouldn’t be hanging off the sides of your rear, and should be centered and slightly high. Pockets that are hanging off to the side or are lower, will give the impression of a flat, wider rear end. We like this really affordable pair from Old Navy. They are $25 and fit true to size.
The Crop, Ankle-baring Jean: Showing a little skin can be super fun and flirty for spring, and we love the lighter wash, slightly cropped jeans. They look great with pretty mules in beige and blush, as well. This GAP pair is slightly flared and cropped. It is perfect for taller gals because the line can cut off at an odd spot near the ankle, but petite gals can roll their hems up or order petite versions.
